    Very interesting article, ronjor.

So does this mean I can't sing along with the elevator music anymore...? :(

    :D

    Sing on Snap! :D

Thinking back on most of my "on hold" calls, there would be a lot of snipping going on in order to present it as a play.

Oh joy! Swearing at the hold music can make a difference! :D On the other hand it says something when companies employ more people to listen to calls than to answer them....

Some ~dogs~ do it on purpose! :D I always figure I have a captive audience, even on hold, "Your telephone call May be recorded to ensure ... babble, babble ... I always substitute "May" with "Will" ... So I always let them know what I think LOL :D ~I wonder what they think of that?~

    On a Serious Note:

The funny thing is I always assumed it was an internal thing ... Not involving a 3rd Party ... This really concerns me ... Just think of all the Personel Info you are giving them. Ie Credit Card Company: Your Account #, Exp. Date ... Your Name, address, Mother Maiden Name ... etc. etc. I'm gonna have to make a few calls regarding this.

Indeed, a quick search turned up the following call transcript: :D

Operator: Welcome to Fetish Paradise Collars and Leashes. Can we have your account number please?
    Dog: *pants*
Operator: That's great sir, could you please confirm your address?
    Dog: RUFF!
Operator: And your mother's maiden name?
    Dog: GRRRR!!
Operator: That's great - I'll just put you on hold for a moment. Thanks for waiting. *Elton John music starts in background*
    Dog: HOWL!

I have always loved the call to Paypal from Mark Perkel who made a name for himself fighting Paypal over a frozen account. He completely turned Paypal on its head with this call:

    also mirrored here:

Yes, he taped the call, which is the whole point! You'll see what I mean when you listen. If you haven't heard this before, it's a classic. It made the rounds a few months ago. It gives an all-new meaning to "your call may be recorded"......this is a must-listen!
on edit - the good stuff begins at about 8 minutes in.

Thank you for those links! I listened to both phone calls. The second one from the supervisor who called him just blew me away. Now I know why my PayPal account which was never limited as I used it only once to buy Dell coupons at Ebay and then closed it has never actually been closed although PayPal has told me it is closed. Now I understand. No accounts, according to that supervisor, are ever closed. Unbelieveable.
