Btw, the current version as of the time of this post is 1.0.0.8.
It does now a quick scan for autorun.inf files and allow to unhide or delete them. It also shows the content of the file and rate the file as normal, hidden, suspicious or dangerous. If such file is found, it open automatically a dialog to inspect the file(s).

 

* Hidden File Scan v1.0.0.8 is better, with the case for notch: Executable only. But all three cases are not notched after another start ... It must check again - it's not good.
Have it the capability to find the malwares? Which?

* In ADS ScanEngine v1.0.0.0 - I have 'Risky' my all Favorites (650) - why?
And: if I remove a ADS from one file - after restart of ADS ScanEngine - this same file has this same ADS Size ...

Hidden File Scanner V1.0.0.11 (right click for file info added) saves the state of the check boxes.
It does not scan for malware, its not a malware/av scanner.

About ADS Scan Engine (currently V1.0.0.1):
It removes the stream just fine. After removing, you need to rescan the drive to get the current result (this might be changes soon).

* Good files are files which contain an alternate data stream with just the zone identifier.

* Risky files are files which contain one or more alternate data streams, which are not executable files, and not zone identifier, so it could be some other kind of hidden files.

* Dangerous are files which contain one or more alternate data streams which have been identified as executable, drivers, or dlls.

You can search the ADS - Alternate Data Streams - with many tools, like GMER, KX-Ray, HiJackThis, AlternateStreamView v1.10 (this from NirSoft, look for post # 287 in this thread) and others.

If you looking for a QUICK scan for ADS, try StreamFinder from Gaijin.at (scan only in 7 minutes and 30 seconds...). Look for KX-Ray antirootkit/Data Streams tab - scan is MOMENTARY.

SysProt Antirootkit/File System: give you your HIDDEN Favorites in 5 seconds ... on my Windows XP SP2.


Well, I have abandonned for the moment these two softwares, which are in a period of growth: ADS Scan Engine, and Hidden File Scanner. But they are growing rapidly every day a little more ...

... but today I deleted (Add/Remove Programs) this Usage Monitor (which had 3 processes - unsecapp.exe: Working Set 4240 KB, UsageMonitor.exe: 4952 KB, and (Microsoft) wmiprvse.exe: 6940 KB ...... and another instance of unsecapp.exe (yes, 4240 KB! yes, another!) did start every 15 seconds to persist 2 seconds ...).
I deleted also in Regedit: HKCU\Software\Veign .

Sorry!

I'm being human (and only a few 0 and 1 ...).
