I was just trying out custom applications with Identity Shield and noticed that WSA automatically added xul.dll.moz-backup from Firefox program files to applications with Denied status. Why is this? There is also another entry firefox.exe.moz-callback.moz-backup but that one is set to Protected.

It likely identified it as a process trying to access your browser. I wouldn't be worried about it - you can change it to 'Allow' to correct its functionality if you experience any problems, but it is likely working without a problem.
