i dont think the Crucial scanner will delete the streams, it didnt when i needed to a few months ago. but, i remember reading that you can have system files with ADS attached to them, so be careful deleting anything.

Crucial ADS is just a scanner.
Has anyone used Merijn's app to clean ads streams to date?

    CrucialADS : found 1326 ADS's
    Ad-Aware: found 0 infected files with ADS's...

There are just 13 ADS on my computer. After a thorough inspection, I found that these ADS were just completely harmless, so I just ignored them.

Most of the ADS that I found were related to thumbnails. I found just a handful.

    Hi Ron, ;)

ADS Spy is also available as a standalone product - http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/ but is now also included with HJT in the tools sections ... it works great. ~It successfully deleted the :kavichs streams created by KAV that others I tried could not. The only downside is it only scans the C Volume. ;)

Another one available is from RejZoR's - eXcesssive Software - http://www.excessive-software.tk/ - NTFS Streams Eraser

I found that Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal 5.0 Trail Edition (30 days) added
Kavichs:$data ADS to most of the files scanned by the Anti-Virus program.

The Trouble with all of the ADS tags added to the files caused Windows Chkdsk /f to fail after scanning the hard drive C:. It would Lock-Up the computer after it finish scanning the hard drive and was supposed to Reboot the computer. After the first Chkdsk failure, the computer would Chkdsk every other boot up and lock-up again. Nero 6.6.0.1 would Lock-Up before burning a CD-R or DVD disk, I suppose it was checking the files and was overwhelmed with all the ADS tagged files. I found that if I Copy or Moved the Files to Fat32 Partition and Moved them back again, The ADS Tags would be removed from all of the infected files.
