XMON causes Microsoft Exchange store.exe to consume up to 100% CPU resources.

Only appears to happen twice a day for around 1 - 2 hrs and only on priv1.edb database.

I have run eseutil /p, eseutil /d and isinteg –s server1 –fix –test alltests against the database but this did not stop it happening.

Everything has been working fine since day 1, six months ago.

This is a Small Business Server 2003 premium fully patched.

    Thanks for any help.

    XMON background scanning

How do I find an email in Exchange that XMON background scanning is getting stuck on?
Which causes store.exe to consume up to 100% CPU resources.

    Hello,

Are you performing an operation such as a backup when this problem occurs?

    Regards,

    Hi Aryeh

    No.

If I untick Background scanning in XMON the problem goes away.

Background scanning means that all emails in the store will be re-scanned after each update. In my opinion, it's enough to have XMON scan them upon arrival and next time when they are downloaded from the Exchange server.

    Ok, I'll live with that.
But it would still be nice to track down which email background scanning is getting stuck on.
