The cloud was the future until some idiots abused their power, and proved to the entire world that they where lying in wait ready to scoop their intellectual property, their personal secrets, and where totally committed to undermine privacy at all cost....

Now if you still insist on centralizing your information in only a few places easily accessible to them then you deserve to loose said privacy with all the antidemocratic implications this entails...

    ergo...

The cloud is DEAD ! Long live the desktop !

    I hope I'm not being off-topic here.:doubt:

There's always the risk of abuse of new technologies. That doesn't mean we close down every single technology we see being abused. If it was the case we wouldn't be using the computers today nor any industrial machinery. The important thing is if we can contain, minimize the abuse and outweigh it with benefits.

Like you can protect your information by resisting the cloud when everything in the internet around the world is moving to the cloud and the NSA keeps an eye on everything. You can use your desktop without any internet connection and protect your information. No prob.:)

    :argh: ....:argh: .....:D

Yeah like they're gonna win against all the massive adversaries. Too few people are active to support them enough to let them actually do something about it. :(

Your information will never be safe. If they don't get it from the internet, they'll hunt you down in real-life or any other ways.

    Finally, thank you! :thumb:

Actually they are not quite alone in this fight...

    http://internetdefenseleague.org/
    http://www.fightforthefuture.org/
    http://www.thecenterforrights.org/

and the list actually goes on quite a bit. What is required is for us to engage against what we believe to be wrong and unethical and actively protest...

As long as you kick them ~ Snipped as per TOS ~ using legal means it's all good, and necessary, democracy isn't free, it requires constant vigilance and it must often be fought for, and protected, sometimes at great personal cost...

So don't back down, don't be afraid, organize, and resist! Alone you are a flea on the horses back, together you are an angry hornet's nest!

And currently the most powerful weapon in this is information... Educate everyone! Bring attention to the EFF's work and other groups (Intelligently) and this will go a long way to increase general public awareness and reduce their ability to subvert democracy and freedom, and most importantly privacy in this context. This is important as privacy is a corner stone of freedom, and democracy.
