Is there any firewall that is worth paying for vs. a free one. Was looking at Look n Stop, and a few other paid firewalls. Any help would be appricated.
    Thanks

I would like to say that such kind of question would receive a variety of different answers because different person would have different taste, needs, preference and different computing environments. Some didn't mind the price because he/she can afford it, but some would say it is expensive, even though it is good. To see the effectiveness of different firewall, you can take a look of the Proactive Security Challenge at matousec.com:

    http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php

I would suggest that you try each firewall you like to get a feel of how the firewall operates.

To get a better response, you may list your computer configuration, what features and the level of protection you want.

Trial as many as possible from a selection of potential candidates, then go with the one you like best. If it happens to be paid, then so be it, otherwise if it's free, that's an added bonus :)

God people need to quit recommending this for firewall questions.. That is a HIPS test not a firewall test.

That test is pure garbage in less you are looking for a HIPS program, It does not test the "Firewall Portion" of the Firewall.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!! Whatever you do dont discard or choose a firewall specifically because of test results at Matousec. Just search for Matousec in this forum and you will find a number of reasons why. I agree that you should research the features included in the firewalls that you might be interested in. Find one that suits your needs and trial for a while. If you dont like repeat, there are several good firewalls around it just depends on what your looking for, if you use a lot of public hot spots etc. And also check out some user reviews. Usually the best choice is the one that your comfortable with, free or paid.
