    Hello Everyone

We will be posting in this forum from time to time information regarding Wireless Security. Anyone is welcome to add comments/suggestions or assistance.

The news of this past week is that Linksys has released some new firmware to upgrade some and/or all of their B equipment from the WEP "security" to solid WPA security. If one performs the upgrade then the B equipment shall be the same as the G equipment except for the speed within the network only.

Formerly the WEP "security" was crackable in about 5,000,000 captured packets. This was about two hours (with heavy traffic). Now the WPA security most likely shall not be cracked using two of Her Majesty's MI5 computers running in parallel! The WPA security uses many protocols one of which is using a 256 bit key and changing it automatically every few minutes.

    Best wishes
