I just received an e-mail announcing the "ALL NEW WinZip® System Utilities Suite".

    I quote:
    http://www.winzip.com/system-utilities-suite.htm?sc_cid=SUMUAnn1Sys0211

The first thing that came in mind was: what has Winzip to do with computer optimization . Do they have any expertise in this field, or do they just want to use their famous name to promote their product?
As far as I know, Winzip is used less and less, since Windows is able to pack and unpack .zip files since XP, and WinRar offers the possibility to extract way more file extensions.

Does anyone have any experience with Winzip's tools (other than the compression tool)? If so: is it better (or worse?) than anything that's already out there?

I gave it a small test but unfortunately its a very limited trial. There seems to be a lot of options however the trial only lets you do the smart pc care scan which runs a pre configured scan of ur system and then lists the problems. However you can't actually fix the problems unless you buy the product so i cant comment on its effectiveness.

I gave it a try. Nothing impressive...
System Utilities Suites: Jack of all trades, master of none: They do many things but nothing impressive.
I've always liked separate/specific tools for cleaning, de-fragmenting etc.

Hehe, rebrand of an already quite useless program...
I tried ASO 3 before, imo it's hanging on the edge of rogue, probably the same with this.

Yeah, they released multiple new tools.
But if ASO is that bad, wouldn't Winzip be throwing their good name out of the window by using their products?
