My desktop Win7 DAW has a Gigabyte H97-D3H motherboard. My browser is Firefox. I was doing Windows Update and it offered me ""Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB314819 Download size: 52.0 MB.""" I thought: I wonder if un-updated IE is a security risk even if never used? Well, that is actually my first question. Then, to my surprise, I can't find IE on the computer at all! Huh? I thought that IE was included as part of Windows 7 whether it was used or not, an integral part of the OS as it were, eh? That's the second question. The third one is: would Update offer a security update for a programme which is not on the system? It seems odd. Thanks for any enlightenment.
Your second question -- If you look in Control Panel..Programs and Features, and look at the left hand side where it says ''Turn Windows Features on or off'', is Internet Explorer not listed there?
Regarding question one, a read here may help you make a decision. http://superuser.com/questions/7490...ernet-explorer-updates-although-i-disabled-it Note that when you disable IE Windows moves the associated files to a separate storage area on the system in the event you need to turn it back on again in the future
