    You are welcome. :)

Of course SP2 was already available all over the net, however not (officially) offered/provided by Microsoft. This time the download is trustable. ;)

Why is this 1.3 GB in size? The unofficial one was around 460 MB. Does this have something extra?

Microsoft: this SP2 release simplifies administration by enabling IT administrators to deploy and support a single service pack for clients and servers. Therefore the DVD ISO contain Vista SP2 and Server 2008 SP2.

The unofficial 460 MB one also contained vista sp2 plus server 2008 sp2. But I did not see the DVD ISO before. This might explain the size difference. The other one was an exe, this is a DVD iso.

Okay, this is odd. I followed the 32-bit link and the file size is 348 MB.

The unofficial RTM had a file size of 475 MB (I just checked).

The file names are the same "Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe" both for the official and unofficial ones.

Why the huge difference in size?

I thought they did not make changes to RTM and the final release candidates.

Okay, I know for a fact that people here have already downloaded and installed the Vista sp2 + server 2008 sp2 RTM that was leaked on the net with the following name

    Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe (475 MB)

I downloaded it but did not install it on my computer.

Now Microsoft has officially released the service pack 2 with the same file name

    Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe (348 MB)

Why is there a 127 MB size difference?

Was the unofficial one tempered with? I got it from a torrent site but I was assured by a reliable source that it was the same one released on MSDN site.

Normally you do not make modifications to the RTM and the official release, why did Microsoft feel the need to remove 127 MB worth of data from the RTM?

Shall I delete the unofficial one and download this new official one? Will it make any difference?

    Thanks.....

If you haven't even installed the unofficial one, why not get the real deal while you're at it?

Unofficial versions, no matter what software it concern, can be contaminated by malware, so I would go for the versions offered via the Microsoft links in this thread. :)

Right, but I am curious why the huge difference in size? Because in future I will wait for the official release instead of downloading the RTMs. I only downloaded the RTM as I read companies did not make any changes after the product is marked as "released to marketing".

Yup, this is usually the case. But this unofficial file was released on MSDN. Surely this would be free of malwares.

Good advice. Official version it is then.

Just curious, those who did install the RTM version, did they suffer any problems etc

I've not had any problems at all. Apparently the RTM has the same build as the official release (6002.18005) from what I've read elsewhere.
