I'm running Windows XP Professional and have it set up to log me in automatically. However, I have to hit the return key once to have the program move from "Windows Is Starting Up" to "Loading Your Personal Settings." I'm wondering,

    1) Why this is?

    and

    2) How can I alter the log in process to be completely automatic from power up to ready to work?

    Thanks,
    PGM

    Hi, pgm

If you set the OS up [Administrator] you must have hit the return key when it asked for a Password, So that is your Password.

Or you are a User and you done the same or the Administrator set it at that when the account was set up.

To change it Go to Control Panel>User Accounts>Change Password.

Enter return key as your Password then again to confirm it and then no Password.
