Is there a way to change the order of the right click menu? For instance, group all scanning apps. together, cleaning\erasing\shredding apps. together, etc.

Changing the order of the right click menu may be tough to do. I did some minimal research a while back and could only re-order some items. Others were coming from dll files that I couldn't control. ANyway, hope you have better luck than me. If you have some success, please let us know!

ShellExView from Nir Sofer may be somewhat helpful for you too. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

likely to be a trial and error proposition but you can certainly hack system dll & exe

    http://www.virtualplastic.net/html/art_hack.html
    http://www.virtualplastic.net/html/hacklist.html
    http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

if you can ID the dll controlling the order and the entries in question within the dll....
might consider asking over at virtual plastic

Ive so many projects as it is, but that is certainly one Im interested in sorting out eventually
resource hacker makes it pretty easy to say substitute icons within a dll and you have access to programing code for alteration (Ive gone as far as changing some recognized text that appears in a program window) but how the order in the RClick shell is actually controlled is another matter.

as always best to copy the system file, then hack it, rename the original then rename the copy to the original's name, ideally from a parallel install.

and a great source for shell extensions

index of the Complete Idiot's Guide to Writing Shell Extensions
    http://www.codeproject.com/shell/shellextguideindex.asp
and dont ask me about that guide Im currently the dunce sitting in the corner
and that's the remedial class of idiot's :p
