Windows Defender on Win7 days behind in updates

    In Windows 7 with Windows Defender on I click update. However, the updates it gets are not the latest. The versions can be delayed up to several days.

    Even using "MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate -MMPC" does not get the latest versions.

    However, if I use the downloadable signature update here, it will install the latest.

    Can anyone explain what's going on?

    It's a while since I've seen a Win7 PC with WD enabled but I don't remember ever seeing more than 1 or 2 updates a week.
