    @plat1098 :

Whenever you notice a small halt during installation of Windows Defender signatures, it is due to the downloaded update containing more then one signature package.

Usually this will be the NIS signatures for the Network Inspection Engine.
They are separate from the Antimalware/Antispyware signatures.

The update process will be done in steps with a tiny pause between, since it is installing separate packages for separate engines.

Thank you, actually did not know this, apparently I forgot I had a firewall in there somewhere. It never shows itself. :cautious:

I certainly hope they do more than just give it a facelift.

As someone who chooses to keep Defender in order to appease Windows 10 (doesn't always work), seriously, yes! Though, I'd gladly forfeit a little scanning speed for better detection ability.

I hope they won't add 20 useless modules like Avast. Keep it simple and light ...

I don't know but I would think a full scan is only needed if you are already infected.

Exactly boredog, once edge browser gets Ublock or Umtrix even better tied with smartscreen.
I,ve tested edge for months on virtualbox with Ublock https://github.com/nikrolls/uBlock-Edge/releases its spot on
Yes, but you can shorten the scan time if exclude certain file extension ie .ini. iso
maybes mp3 etc cant remember used to have big list at one time.

the current UI is pain - to reach logs and exceptions - and the current state of UI is not saved.

I have doubts about that. Just because it shows firewall status on the GUI doesn't necessarily mean it has an integrated firewall.

    From your link:
That sounds like it has links to those tools only, but I guess we will see.

Yeah, Windows has an integrated firewall. I doubt though that WD will get one built in. ;)

ok we will see I guess. all I am passing along is what they are saying. it may or may not be the windows firewall we now have or it might be a new version.

    don't shoot the messenger.

Yes, it does too! I had to click on the image to enlarge it enough to read it but that is what it says. :thumb:

ATP is only for corporate user, not for home user.

Wow, nobody mentioned the fact that WD is (probably) the only AV whose all components have CFG enabled?;)
