I have a dual boot ubuntu/windows laptop. I want to use whole disk encryption but decided to remove ubuntu and just encrypt windows. The boot loader is on ubuntu right now. Can I just delete the linux partition? Or do I have to manually reconfigure the boot loader on the windows partition before removing the linux partition altogether?

    First install windows.
Then install Ubuntu. Ubuntu will recognize Windows and use GRUB loader.
Then install WDE. WDE will recognize Ubuntu, which will give you dual boot options.

And if you ever want to use Linux again, use Virtualbox. And if you use ubuntu or fedora, you can choose to encrypt the whole linux install.

That way you would be running an encrypted Linux inside an encrypted windows. Sounds good to me :)
