i am considering buying an upgrade license for windows 8 when its official but first i have a few questions

if i buy an upgrade license does the license for the OS i upgraded from die ? eg if i upgrade from XP and later decide i dont like win8, does the key for XP die and is no longer available for use ?.

does the upgrade process need to be performed after XP is installed (the license i am thinking of upgrading), or can i just do a clean install and point to my XP cd when (or if) asked for proof of an upgrade.

in the past i know it was possible to install from clean and point to previous OS and it would work as normal, but that was many years ago

If you decide you don't like Windows 8, a downgrade can be performed and your previous license won't be affected.
