I'm having an issue trying to connect to the Windows store on 8.1. Is anyone else having this problem?

    What store?

Oh wait, I disable the store, all store services, and One-Drive.. All done via clickable registry edit key files. I had forgot there was even a store!

BTW, anyone notice STRANGE outages? Steam was up and down for hours today. Lots of oddities.

It's working fine for me and has been. I'd check the firewall first, and if no luck there, I'm sure google will point you to someone else with the problem and a fix.

It's worked fine for me, too fine for my comfort level. I ended up disabling notifications about Store updates on both of my 8.1 Pro installs. And though I have done the same on my Dell OEM Windows 8 PC (now on secondary HDD, Windows 7 Pro is main OS on SSD), that "Update to Windows 8.1" still shows every time I boot into the OS, usually for updating only. Can that be forced to go away?

I thought that Windows 8.1 notifications were from the Store?

Fortunately I'm doing some changing of both of the notebooks with Windows 8.1 installed as dual boot, both OS's will be sold for what I gave for them (this is legit), plus shipping.

I'm glad that Windows 7 Pro has no such store, another reason why it's the most popular OS on the planet. It will take until the year 2020, possibly beyond, to knock 7 from it's rankings.

As evidenced by user ratings, the overwhelming majority prefers no Windows Store, even XP faced with death next month has higher approval ratings (& current installs).

Store is working fine here. It's reporting app updates and I download apps.

the Windows Store is perfect for people running Windows 8 phones or tablets.
    that's what it's made for.

    i don't use it personally, i don't have a tablet or smartphone.

Windows Store or not, i'd much rather run Windows 8.1 than XP.

It's been about week. Still no change. I tried a suggested fix but no avail. Strangely enough, The apps update, I just can't get into the store. Very weird.

The new account has been created. Yes it's a hassle, but will be worth it. I plan to delete the other account.
