I used to have this issue on my Acer Aspire 5100, using Win 7 Ultimate x86. However, after the last reliability update that Microsoft released for Win 7 a month ago, the message disappeared.

Now, when I unplug the notebook, the battery works for about 15 minutes before it shuts down without advise - with the battery icon showing 96% remaining for example.

Win7 may be sending wrong commands to the BIOS, resulting in this issue. Or maybe, it's right about faulty batteries. I would like to have my case analyzed in particular by Microsoft technicians.
