I read the article. At the end it says:

"Is Microsoft more guilty than Google, Apple, Facebook, Yahoo, AOL, and any other companies cooperating in the data-collection? To a small extent, yes, because it was the first company to give the NSA and FBI the access. But in the end, they're all equally at fault."

What is a practical response to this?

The practical response to it is: Don't worry about it. :)

Use whatever suits you best. I use linux, the next guy/gal Windows. Don't waste time worrying about any of it...

That's generally how I feel too, but Nanobot seems to be seriously concerned and I'm interested in how he deals with it.

If MS offered Win 10 for 30$, I'd buy it straight away even before it's release date. I find their normal licensing prices to steep considering that most people use Windows.

You could find 8.1 for around $69.00, legit. That's not out of the spectrum of reasonable. But I agree - if they drop it to $39 or so, it would become the top OS in the world in a matter of weeks. I'd buy 10 copies immediately, rather than scaling my upgrades to save money.

I hope MS will have such a promotional price again for Win 10.

Has anybody had any issues running Windows 10 TP in Vmware Workstation after today's windows updates for Windows 8.1? The VM was working fine yesterday as I had it running several times, only thing that has changed today was I got latest Windows updates & installed latest Flash Player.

I have changed the settings as it says in the dialog in the image & have rebooted several times but every time I try to run it I get that message.

Well the only way I could fix it was to delete the VM & then set it up again but it wont allow me to give the VM 8gb of memory after yesterdays windows updates.

    sportsfan7700,

How are you attempting to install Win10? From Windows or from a boot disk?

I was trying from Windows. Are my partitions to blame?

I never do it from Windows. Try a boot disk and install to your Win10 partition.

I can't recall if you see drive letters in the boot disk install environment. Install to the 295 GB partition on Drive 0. Be careful you don't install into the Win7 partition.

When Win7 boots it will be C: drive.
When Win10 boots it will be C: drive. (Maybe. It is when I do it)
