'The Reserve: Keep in mind that the option to Rollback must be done within the month of upgrading'. I had not seen this before.

Updated this: There is no time limit on a rollback AFAIK. It is a quote from a link on this page, but it appears the info was taken out of context and I was misled into thinking it was for the reserve. Sorry, my mistake.

Edge browser has a strikingly gorgeous dark theme now, with choice between light and dark. Leaked build 10147 contains all of the polish lacking in previous builds. More customization for the Start menu now as some users have been wishing for as well.

I am wondering what will happen to dual boot machines. I dual boot Win 7 & Win 8.1. If I upgrade Win 8 to W10, will the m/c be subsumed by MS, or will I still be able to use the Win 7 partition?

    Thay change it to this:
«As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build. Once you have successfully installed this build, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh. It’s important to note that only people running Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can upgrade to Windows 10 as part of the free upgrade offer.*»

Microsoft is still allowing people to enroll in the Insider Preview build which I am sure is going to attract those who see it as a way to get a free copy of W10 without having ever contributed to the testing because their blog originally stated that all you had to do was activate your MS account and W10 was yours, indicating that you would not be sacrificing your W7 or W8 license for it ... the blog got changed the next day adding that you would be giving up your license. Guess the lawyers got to it.

I installed the Insider Preview a few days ago to have a closer look and actually try things out, and was surprised to find that I actually really like it so far. I would have preferred separate OS's for mobile and desktop, but this is turning out to be a pretty decent fusion of the two worlds. The start menu improves greatly on what we saw in 8 or 8.1. I think a lot of people might be pleasantly surprised when they install/upgrade to 10.

There is still time to participate in the testing and give feedback, I have already provided several feedbacks and intend to do more in the next month. You can still install this preview build 10130 and then have 10 final when that build arrives. You can apparently drop out of the testing at that point, or continue on with more testing, either way. This seems like a good way to get a clean install of 10 also. I am not a fan of "upgrades" and much prefer a clean install.

Anyway, just wanted to post an overall good impression for what it's worth. I wasn't expecting 10 to be this nice....

Well there you go, awesome. And if you liked 10130, you would absolutely enjoy 10147 as it is a huge step forward with regard to performance and overall polish.

Not yet, it's just a leaked build but with far less bugs compared to Insider builds. There should be an official build within the next few days, likely 1014x/1015x range.

Hahaha... this is amazing. So it looks like I'll have to do an upgrade of my 7 after all eh?

A free copy of Windows 10 for beta testers doesn't sound like Microsoft anyway, what emmjay was saying about Microsoft flip-flopping on the license for the insider program sounded fishy

Yeah, it seems that there's something new and changing every other day, so it's hard to know what to believe at this point. I think someone joining the beta even this late can still make a worthy contribution, but then again, maybe MS has other ideas. I think 10 is pretty nice, build 10130 was a bit buggy, but overall pretty decent.

If I can't do a "clean" install in one way or another when the time comes, I think I'll be pretty hard pressed to go to 10. I don't like the idea of doing an "upgrade". I've heard there will be a way to do a clean install upgrading from 7, so I think I'll just wait till the end of July and see what unfolds...

    Hi Brian K...

Thanks. That's how I was thinking it might work. That would probably be acceptable, assuming the "upgrade" process went smoothly etc. For now, I think I will just wait and see how everything goes, and decide what to do on July 29th (or thereabouts). I do think 10 will turn out pretty nicely...
