32-bit and 64-bit build 9860 running nicely on a HD and SSD. Seems "snappier" than the previous build but that assessment is so subjective.

My download rate was 15 Mbit/sec. Nice.

    mantra,

Unfortunately there is no ISO to download. You have to update similar to a Windows Update. Build 9841 is updated to 9860.

I suggest you do a clean install using the Build 9841 ISO. Keep it quite separate from your current OS. You have BIBM if I recall. BIBM will prevent either OS from seeing the other. If you update Win8.1 to Win10 Tech Preview you will have to junk the OS partition early next year when the license runs out. So you will lose Win8.1 too.

It's early days with Win10 so the major improvements will come later.

    J_L,

I think mantra and I were talking at cross purposes. I meant there is no ISO for build 9860.

    Nice to see this confirmed:

Belfiore also told Tech Ed Europe attendees that they should expect to be able to do an in-place upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or later. He didn't get granular about exactly what will be preserved -- settings, applications, data, etc.

Hopefully settings and installed apps will be preserved.

After trying it out for a bit, it is definitely a more tempting upgrade than Windows 8. I mean there's a whole new platform available on it and now it's desktop-optimized. Yes, I'm into apps. Problem is, everything is working fine and I'm not sure if I want to give up 7. I might just bite if they give a good deal for Windows 7 users though.

Yeah, it sounds like that. Although surely this will be limited to MS services, unless they can get other sites to support it.

I always wanted to see this stuff, because I only use my own PC for mail access (and online shopping), so using the PC as a software based token is really cool. I don't think it should be hard to convince other companies (like Facebook and Google) to support it.

    I support these ones:

    - Merge PC settings and Control Panel (get rid of Metro inside the desktop)
    - Let us bind programs to specific audio outputs (something like FlashMute)
    - Add tabs to File Explorer

    My own suggestions:

    - Bring back Quick Launch (out of the box)
    - Windows and columns should remember position and size
    - Redesign Tray-icons manager (Notification Area)
