I just hope they don't remove some of the much needed things like access to device manager and such....

If you go to Settings => Devices, a link to Device Manager is listed under Related Settings so I've a feeling that will stay.

If you right click the Windows Start button there is an option to open many programs, including Device Manager.

Yep, I knew about the right click on start but didn't know about the Settings -> Devices link. Thanks folks... Let's hope they keep it that way.

It's like Microsoft Keeps the people locked up in a big room with no windows of TV or any outside contact and tells them do this feature or not it doesn't matter a bit and what ever you do don't read the feedback.

A friend of mine said the whole upgrade to Windows 10 situation for her was as if she'd been offered a new house for nothing, told she could move in straight away and that she could bring all her furniture with her.

Then after she had moved in, she was told that some of her furniture would have to go and that the rooms she wanted to decorate could only be done in certain colours and styles.

After moving back to her old house, she was then immediately offered the same new house again !

And with a bit of skill one can burn the whole house down. Moving is never what it is cracked up to be. :argh:

It's the development cycle now. You can have it "right" or you can have it "now"; you can have it "right now" but you can't have it "right and now". They opt for "now" and we'll fix it "later".

The SDLC bits have shifted left:
    • Alpha is now beta
    • Beta is now release
    • Release is now end-of-life
And "Software as a service" is Redmond-PR-speak for "you get what you get and we'll always be fixing it and designing it as we go."

This article are nothing but a fraud.

Another example of tech-"journalists" that desperately tries to spread lies as pure click-bait.

Seldom has I read anything this stupid.

He claims his dad has used every Windows version since XP, loved them all, preferred Win8.1 - and then can't handle Win10 ??

Impossible to master Win8.1 and then be lost in Windows 10.

He claims his dad only uses Outlook, Internet Explorer and Word - but suddenly the very same programs in Windows 10 should be impossible to master and required "expert"-help from his heroic son, so dear old dad could get back to his beloved Win8.1.

Seldom do I feel like vomiting due to an article. This one came close.

If this "journalist" was such an expert, he would have instructed his dad to pin Outlook, Internet Explorer (or Edge) and Word to taskbar, the mission would be done in 5 minutes and the story would have been a one-line succes story : "Dad accepted the Win10, no problems occurred, we pinned three programs, Daddy are now happy."

    End of story.

Oh, and the part where the "journalist" tries to make this fraud of a story sad and appealing with mentioning of proclaimed throat cancer - that is just tactless and disrespectful to every victim of that horrible disease.

I was wondering if he had to help his Dad after going from W7 to W8?
Think the article might possibly have got diverted away from what I feel was the main point, the MS handling of the upgrading process.

Surely this increases the probability of a general failure (elsewhere called a 'Kolossal Bork') with respect to Windows vs OEM-approved driver updates? I have always avoided the former on pre-10 systems (have no upgraded yet).

Hi all. I pulled the trigger and did the free upgrade to V10. It took about an hour and a half. No problems that I'm aware of yet.

After debating with myself for 2.5 months about it, and going back and forth between 7 and 10 and Linux, I decided yesterday to just go with 10. It runs well on my machine, and actually seems very good. In another year, practically every machine sold will have 10 on it. Time to embrace the future and quit worrying about it all... :)
