Actually it's very common for a vendor to only supply drivers for the version of Windows that came preinstalled on a computer, and offer no support for more recent versions of Windows.
Then What Can I do yet? I don't have choice and I have to use Windows 10. I am sure that some new updates and my machine will be flying.
Generally I agree with @roger_m , all needed drivers and their updates are brought by Win 10 itself. Of course that some issues may occur and one needs something to do (revert the previous drivers or update from the vendor) but in most cases it is trouble free.
Brian, I know that you suggested a UFD, but is there any reason I couldn't use a DVD instead? I'm much more comfortable/familiar with booting with DVD's. The reason I ask is that Windows Update has tried 3 times now to do the update to 1607 and it keeps failing. So, I guess it's time to use the iso.
Alex, You don't boot the DVD or UFD. The 1607 update is run in Windows. Using a DVD should be fine. Double click setup.exe and decline the option to install updates.
I was talking about adguard for windows and not the adguard browser extension. please take a peek at screen shot.
I need some help folks! I ran the setup.exe file from my DVD rom and installed 1607 Anniversary edition. It appeared to go fine. However, I have a c drive that is an SSD and a 1 TB second internal hard drive. Windows is not seeing my second internal HD?! Most of my programs/documents are on my d drive including Macrium Reflect. I'm also noticing that my Macrium Reflect boot menu is gone; probably because Macrium is on my d drive. I do have an incremental Macrium backup from Friday and I did a Drive Snapshot image backup right before the Anniversary update. (I do not have Drive Snapshot installed, but downloaded the exe file and ran that from my c drive) UPDATE: I solved the issue! Re-booting did NOT solve the issue; at first. So, I shut down the PC and then unplugged it for 1 minute. Then, I powered it back up again and lo & behold, it automatically found the d drive! (However, still no MR boot menu....) It's time for drink! (Even though it's not even quite noon yet.)
Alex, that's not a rare occurrence in Windows OS. Look in Disk Management and you will see the partition without a drive letter. Give it a drive letter. I'm not familiar with the MR boot menu.
Has anyone experienced any appreciable, long term difference between settings in the power plan (Control Panel/Power Options)--Windows 10 v. 1607? This is an Energy Star workstation (starting it sounds like wind howling thru the caverns), but switching from High Performance to Balanced actually resulted in better overall performance and added maybe two seconds to shutdown. Big whoop. Like many people reported with Fast Startup, it seems backwards relative to the option you're choosing I guess you can make specific changes via System Properties/Performance/Settings, but it seemed just as efficient to use Balanced option. Same effects.
I have disabled it because it didn't let PC to shut down properly. It was there since Win 8.1 and persists in Win 10 too. As I have a pretty powerful machine I don't see much difference, to be honest.
If you have issues with startup in general, it seems disabling Fast Startup helps. Go figure! http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ndows-10/40e62792-9aba-4d23-b314-324b770763f2
Yes, FS causes issues with the startup as well as shutdown. One of the totally unusable Windows features ever.
Cumulative update KB3194798/Adobe Flash KB3194343 and if applicable, Windows Defender/Malicious Software Removal Tool. Went OK, although doing the routine disk cleanup, I am informed I can gain nearly 4 terabytes of free disk space on my 110 gigabyte SSD. I think I'll leave this alone for a while. How did your update experience go?
Ok, I have just checked, WU showed 780 MB update, but Windows downloaded only about 400 MB so I guess it is true.
Of course is true. In fact, it has always been true, they are called express downloads. WU has always worked this way.
