XIII, Thanks. When Win10 was released in July last year my upgrades failed with all methods except when using a downloaded Microsoft ISO transferred to a USB flash drive. The ISO created by the Media Creation Tool was one of the failures. The ISO created by the Media Creation Tool is based on install.esd. The ISO downloaded from Microsoft is based on install.wim. They aren't the same ISOs and I don't understand why one will work and the other won't. Strangely, the ISO created by the Media Creation Tool worked on my computers yesterday even though it didn't work last year. I suggest waiting until Microsoft release an ISO, use Rufus to copy the files to a USB flash drive and then run setup.exe in Windows. Don't choose the option to Download Updates after running setup.exe.
I urge you to give this a try: http://winaero.com/blog/windows-10-bluetooth-mouse-suddenly-disconnects-or-stops-working/ I had the bluetooth mouse issue where it stops working randomly throughout the Anniversary Update builds and it continued to persist regardless of bluetooth drivers. But this simple fix has worked wonders and took a few seconds to do the fix.
The ISO's I currently have are install.wim based. These are direct downloads from Microsoft (using a Mac to get the links to them instead of the Media Creation Tool...) I only tried upgrading from DVD. Would trying from a USB drive make any difference? (I don't think it should)
Unfortunately not. Those were generated private links that were only valid for 24 hours (expired). You should be able to get them from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO when using a Mac or Linux machine? I probably will. Tomorrow. It has been a long day...
It's always going to be the same, they'll wait until Windows hits RTM when MS definitely finished the kernel and all that jazz and then work on compatibility before it gets released to the public (hopefully (tm) ), instead of aiming for a moving target. Although, some other vendors who claim compatibility with W10 AU have problems of the same type (BSODs), so people who upgrade immediately will risk getting burnt. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=189403.msg1329994#msg1329994 I've tried KIS 2017 in a VM and haven't experienced crashes or BSODs (apart from limited functionality), but that's a laboratory clean case and nowhere near the conditions normal users work with.
Thanks all I did was Uninstall the device and upon reboot it installed and worked fine sorry I didn't go into details but my Wireless Adapter was a real pain though.
I guess I'm just too impatient - just started the update from the Media Creation Tool on one machine so far.

I'm back BABY! Fairly painless really. I did have to reinstall my printer and change my privacy settings in both the Settings app and IE11. I also had to uninstall the store apps I had already removed, thanks to CCleaner.
Krusty13, I have a Microsoft Account on a few of my computers. It's no big deal. Almost the same as using a Local Account. I'm using a Yandex email address for the account.
Thanks Brian but I do not want a M$ account at all. If that ever becomes a requirement to use Win10 I'm done!
Krusty13, I really can't see a difference in using a Local or a Microsoft account. You seem against the latter. What bothers you?
One word - privacy. Yeah, I know we give that away with Win10 anyway but having a local account is just that, local. It isn't tied even further to me personally. Currently, I'm just a number to M$ and not a name, and that's how I'm trying to keep it. So far I can [do] all I want except add Adblock Plus to Edge, so a local account suites me fine. As I said, if they require a M$ account in the future to use Win10 I'll ditch it. Edit: I want a M$ account as much as I want a Farcebook & Twetter account.
All I've given Microsoft is an email address. Nothing else. I've never received any mail in that account from Microsoft. It is a throw away email account so I can't see I've given away any privacy.
Clean installed two machines, no issues. Win10 AU is faster than previous build; I can see the difference in my low-end machine.
I have given them a real email (hotmail.com) which I only use for newspapers registrations and other minor issues. They have only sent me one e-mail with a security code. I know that privacy is becoming more and more of a problem, but one can certainly learn a lot more about me from Facebook than my MS hotmail account.
