A wise man once said that if you unplug your phone line from your PC, remove your netwok card, turn off your computer and unplug it from the wall you MIGHT be immune to computer problems.
I'm not sure whats causing your blue screen. I would think it more likely to be an issue with your windows install than your AV software.
Is there anything in your NOD event or scan logs that indicate anything specific?
What happens if you restart into safe mode and try to scan?
Whats the specs of your PC?
Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of NOD, uninstalling and re-installing from the fresh copy?

wow a Win98 question. Haven't had one of those in awhile.

Yeah, what are your pc specs. Your pc may not have enough muscle to run everything on your machine.
