    ViGlance is a FREE app for Windows XP (and only for XP), which turns your WinXP taskbar into a Win7 Superbar (well, sort of).

    Key features in Final version:
    * Replaces WinXP's Start button with Win7’s Start Orb.
    * Replaces WinXP's (old) taskbar with Win7's Superbar
    * Results in larger taskbar (superbar) icons
    * Adds Win7’s grouping feature
    * Adds transition effects

    As of now ViGlance is a portable app (no installation) - it has to be executed after each startup. From what I've seen so far, it really doesn't use too much RAM/CPU. Please note this is still a beta version and not all features are implemented yet. According to the developer, the final release will arrive shortly.

    Thanks Aaron for the tip.

    That's an interesting app and I'm going to try it.

    This works well on XP. And the superbar is a definite improvement.

    There a similar program for Vista?

    I reckon the Win7 bar is super ugly, and way to big. o_O

    Does this superbar in Win7 offer any great functionality or mainly cosmetic? Also can you make it smaller? I already have the XP start replaced with an orb, and can drag tabs in the taskbar to any order so not sure about installing this one in case it breaks something.

    I saw this one the other day also for XP, it emulates the Win7 docking/snapping windows to the edges of screens etc which is pretty useful.
