His problem lies with Rollback Rx and FJSDisk.sys

If you do the above and then install Rollback Rx, you will again have the same problem again.

    Thanks.

    Now change it to:

    oodisr,Shield,PartMgr

And, your problem will go away about chkdsk and/or not rebooting.

    Best regards,

    Panagiotis,

Please see if the above works. Six or seven reboots.

You have installed O&O Disk Image.

    Best regards,

I am not able to find run when I click on the start icon. Not sure how I did it the last time. Took a screen shot of the start menu and went to the net on the new PC to post it,,,,,the PC crashed again.

Nobody is asking you to run chkdsk. The chkdsk start automatically, without you scheduling it.

If you look at Pandlock post #42, Rollback Rx doesn't save the bacon, it cripples the system and when someone goes back in snapshot then it appears that it has saved the bacon.

    Hi Panagiotis,

Manually make the following change in the registry.

    oodisr,Shield,PartMgr

Just move the oodisr from bottom of the list to the top of the list.

    Best regards,

I just realized that it is 5:30 PM local time and I am supposed to be at my mother-in-laws in 15 min. Please excuse me I will return here in a few hours.

Thanks again for you help in this matter. It is most appreciated for sure.

It's the small field ABOVE the START "globe". :) - There you can enter commands like eventvwr.msc :) - But the questions is if you find something useful in the logfile.

If I were you I would dump that Rollback software if it is the culprit. So much hassle just for backups, I would jump out of the window before using that one day longer. ;)

    Very true.

It is 2:40 am in Oman, in about 10 minutes, I will be going to bed too. Waiting for Panagiotis response.

    Best regards,

Did you change the location of O&O Disk Image driver in the registry key?

If yes, did the problem go away?

I don't think the drive of Fujitsu is causing the problem. What is causing the problem is the location of the driver in the registry key. Just like the location of the driver of O&O Disk Image in the registry key.

So, this proves about the location of the driver in the registry key. If O&O Disk Image driver is above the driver of Rollback Rx, then there is no problem.

However, if the Rollback Rx driver is above the driver of O&O Disk Image, then Rollback Rx cripples the system and also runs unscheduled chsdsk on reboot and deletes bunch of files.

People think that Rollback Rx saves the bacon. No, it first cripples the system. Then people rollback and think that Rollback Rx has saved the bacon.

    LOL :D
I'm not one of those that need to be convinced. I own 2 licenses of RBRX 1 of EAZfix and 1 of Drive Vaccine and do not use any of them...:)

If this is indeed the problem I can see why I am having trouble. As I believe I mentioned earlier the PC came with a backup program installed. Then I installed Rx and the rest is history. The question now is can the OS be repaired without a full format/reinstall. On the one hand I have spent 3 days troubleshooting this issue which I could have spent reinstalling and configuring the system. On the other hand if I had done that I likely would have reinstalled everything more or less as I had done the first time which of course would have led to the same result. It is def true that along the way I learnt a few things, but the question now is do I cut my losses and start over with a new drive and OS installation or do I keep fighting with this thing?

    Dear Barry,

Before you installed Rollback Rx, your UpperFilters were as follows:
    FJSDisk
    PartMgr
    mbrguard
    diskpt

When you installed Rollback Rx, your UpperFilters become as follows:
    Shiled
    FJSDisk
    PartMgr
    mbrguard
    diskpt

The above I believe is the cause of your problems, like just in the above example of O&O Disk Image. But it needs to be tested before one is sure.

However, if you still insist that you want to keep on using Rollback Rx, then every time you install Rollback Rx, you have to manually tweak the UpperFilters to become as follows:
    FJSDisk
    Shiled
    PartMgr
    mbrguard
    diskpt

If you install and reinstall Rollback Rx, and if you forget to do the above tweak, your troubles will start again. When I purchased Rollback Rx, I had on my system both O&O Disk Image and Jetico Best Crypt and I had to manually tweak the above UpperFilter, so that they can co-exist with Rollback Rx. I didn't find this out easily, I had to pull my hair out at times. Days I went trying to pinpoint the culprit.

But, in your case, we still have to do experiment to pinpoint that the problem lies with the UpperFilters.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

How can you justify a new drive when the problem might be Rollback Rx?

    Dearest Panagiotis,

Thank you for performing the above test on O&O Disk Image. I know, like me that you are allergic to Rollback Rx. lol.

The above test was to convince Barry and show him the virtues of Rollback Rx.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed
