I'm going to make a wild assumption here. Responding to this poll were: 1 - Parent with kids and no imaging/virtualization and 2 - pessimists But there's really only 1 real answer here... almost certainly not, but there are no guarantees in life other than that fact.
Not being pessimistic, just being realistic. But not a big deal to me as I see infections as nothing more than minor annoyance rather than something I worry about.
That is wild. Although the current poll results are indicating a higher percentage of those who voted for "never know for sure.", it doesn't mean people are being pessimistic. I'd say most are being pragmatic over here....
That's good if you don't need too. But that wasn't the question. The question was..... Will you get infected with malware in 2013?
I'm 100% confident my computer won't be infected in 2013,no doubt about it. Sorry, but I'm that confident.
Boost can I send you an e-mail or PM (I've seen you disabled these options), regarding GesWall questions and since you also use Windows Xp Pro sp 3 like me? This is the only way I could contact you, sorry about this. I apologize in advance.
Kinda open question isn't it? - Like saying will you have a pile up in your vehicle. You may drive carefully, but that doesn't mean to say some other bozo won't plough into you. There are new kinds of malware threats emerging all the time, so you protect your systems as best you can with your current knowledge.
Hard to say. Have not been infected in a really long time. I chalk it up to keeping my pc up to date, safe surfing, and of course the tools I have to back me up. Nothing is fool proof however. But, at this point, I would say no.
I know for a fact I will because I have kids that are masters at getting there computers infected and that is pretty much the same as me getting infected since I am the one who has to fix them.I want them to learn the hard way when there systems no longer function the way they should or want. It seems to be working as there being more cautious about what they download. and even looking and unchecking unwanted tool bars etc.
I believe you're misinterpreting my comment. I'm talking about the people that believe the odds will catch up with them in 2013. I'd say that can certainly be construed as pessimism. But anyhow, it was a light hearted comment.
Noted I still find this poll odd though....it's asking you to make predictions. If anything, pessimists predicted end of world last year so the fact that we "survived" makes the possibility of malware infection seem so trivial in comparison
Well that is one point of view, but you have included a third party (a hacker). But people on Wilders are more knowledgeable than others, so I would say, that a chance of them getting infected is like a chance of being hit by a lightning, pretty slim, especially if you never go out during a storm, so I would say, it is kind of impossible.
probably not. i been running almost a year with only NoScript. of course, i scan downloads i am not sure of. i don't have kids or teenagers messing with my machine though.
LOL !!! children in my opinion are the greatest security software testers ! Let the kids loose on your computer for a few hours and if your system is still clean then your security is rock solid.lol...
Wow Threatfire, still rocking it ha.It's really two bad it's not being developed anymore I had really liked it.
