No, and I have a lot of doubt it will see any serious usage for some time to come, if ever. It falls in the same category as smart watches. Neat idea on paper, but little real world application. I don't think its supporters realize that a few years into it, they'll have video advertising and other modern web annoyances literally in their faces.
Never. Why? 1. I have a habit of not wasting money on stupid gadgets. 2. I will not be a part of Google's spy network. And more to the point, I will not help Google to spy on other people by wearing their Glass.
Number 2 is going to be the biggest issue, above all the incoming swarms of advertisers and distractions. Depending on future capability..and you know Google will eventually upgrade it and toss a higher price tag on..I can see a new wave of movie theater pirates, concert recorders, strip club performances being uploaded to porn sites, sensitive conversations being recorded, etc. Of course all of this depends on the storage limits being upgraded, but you know Google will in time. Google, for now, says they won't allow facial recognition. But eventually, for the sake of Google+ at the very least, they will. And you already have a few app developers making these very apps whether Google likes it or not. As long as Google allows the device to install apps from outside of Google or allows any sort of rooting, it's coming.
I have expenses that take a much higher priority than Google Glass. I think the tech is cool but first gen is not going to interest me anyways.
I think it can be safely assumed that Google Glass will have remote NSA switch to turn on the camera.
No never, it may be cool tech and maybe even useful for some, but not for me. I already wear glasses to be able to see so two pair of glasses at the same time may be too much I think.
Perhaps not that, but you can be assured any data that goes through Glass will be tracked and kept by Google.
I think it won't be necessary, because the users themselves will probably make sure that the camera will be always on
It's way too expensive for such a toy. Besides, I already go through contortions trying to avoid anything Google as much as possible, so I would never use it even if it were free. Something similar from another company and under $100 might interest me.
Already bombarded by advertisers on the highway, the Internet, the TV, etc. Now I want to put that stuff on my eyes. No Thanks!
... but maybe it's possible to install your lenses into a google glass. In this case I would buy one.
don't plan to - too early and i don't really want another smart device - i want just one device that does everything. but i like the idea of using "glasses" or goggles for a monitor, so I'll keep an eye on these as they mature and more models come out. mostly I'm thinking a future version of these would make a killer accessory for smart phones, for example, to watch movies on them instead of on the small smart phone screen, maybe in 3D too as they evolve.
Many reasons read here: -I wouldn't feel good wearing them. -I will not be a part of Google's spy network. And more to the point, I will not help Google to spy on other people by wearing their Glass. -I already wear glasses to be able to see so two pair of glasses at the same time may be too much I think. -No. I don't need any and apparently I won't need one. -Already bombarded by advertisers on the highway, the Internet, the TV, etc. Now I want to put that stuff on my eyes. -No thanks, because of privacy concerns. -........
