I thought that it might be best if I create a thread instead of sending an email since there are probably more "Winners" in this forum that might wonder the same.

So. I won an ESET Smart Security license last spring in the 100,000 Wilders members give away (Many Thanks Indeed!). But it is about to expire 2011-03-29 and since I am still in love with ESET I will need to renew soon.

But my Question is if I will be able to renew the license that I won,
or do I need to buy a new license at full price?

I wonder because many of the Giveaway licenses are not re-newable so to speak.

    Cheers!

Contact you local ESET reseller directly, explain the situation and they will likely renew for you.

If I go to my Dutch Eset site and click on buy and then choose to renew a license, they ask for the license details, so if you'll enter them they'll get checked before you pay anything.

I would contact your local distributor. The licenses are probably NFR licenses which cannot be renewed through the normal channels.

dmaasland pretty much hit it on the nose. Generally the cards we give away for free one year memberships are NFR licenses which is the same as a trial but extended to a full year rather than the normal 30-day period. You would have to contact your local ESET distributor to verify but most will not offer renewal pricing from an NFR license.

    I see.

Well I guess that I just buy a new license at full price then as everybody else ;)

I had the NFR license also for two years and when that feature expired for me, I called them to renew. They made it really easy to re-order. It is well worth it.
