I have TI v8, and the install is only about 25MB. The new v10 demo from the site is 110MB. I just need to do basic backups on my main partition. Is v10 really necessary, and why is it so much bigger?

If version 8 does what you want stay with it, unless you see a new feature in 10 that you might need.

Im getting ready to do some major backups, and was looking into the newest version.

Is there a list somewhere that says what v10 does that v8 or v9 does not do?

Getting a list of "what's new" is going to take an Act of Congress as the saying goes. But from reading the forum the main new feature is backing up direct to dvd media (which is super slow) and another feature is backing up your Outlook Express separately (which doesn't seem to work for many judging by the reports here).

Naw. ;) The DVD thing might apeal to some who have plenty of time on their hands or can't afford hard drive to use for backup purposes. However, the slickest part of ATI 10 compared to prior versions is the Managed Directories, for which you can specify a limit on the number, size and or date of backup files. It includes autonaming the files and, if you want to do diff or incs, you can specify how many until the program automtically does another full backup.

i also have ti8 and upgraded to ti10. my main reason was to deinstall several different tools. i have a tool to backup private folders, a tool to backup otlook express, a tool to backup outlook and a tool for images (ti8 ).
with ti10, i have all these tools in one and i can remove the other tools.

if it would work ... (just look for ti10 and outlook)

Well, all those tools in one except for the outlook backup part since ;) since that new ATI tool doesn't actually work in ATI10 by most reports -- but will be fixed in the next update or release. Of course you can do a regular backup and get all your Outlook files that way, or do a files backup and include the Outlook files if you know where to find them all. And don't forget, you also have, in ATI a tool to clone. :)

    Hello slimmonkey,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for the delayed response.

Please have a look at this previous post of mine that contains links to the threads about new features of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home.

    Thank you.
