  2. It will last another 4-5 years

    32.2%
  3. It will last another 1-2 years then W8 will be the dominant OS

  1. I have to agree with you Windows 7 is quite good. Plus if i have to I can also go to Linux Gentoo for a change of pace. I for one will not be rushing out to buy Windows 8.

I pity those who eventually will have no choice but to buy Win 8 pre-installed.

Yes, I understood :thumb: . My irony was for MS. I agree with you: MS, but Ubuntu too, should stop to think the desktop OS as an Iphone.  Ubuntu in fact is losing share in favor of Mint for it changed classical Gnome with Unity ( bleah ! ).

There's no doubt that desktop sales are going down, but what about laptops? I see tons of people using those daily, and I don't see Win 8 going over well there.

I see no reason why MS couldn't have developed a separate OS strictly for mobile devices, and left the desktop/laptop market alone....

Yes, Mint looks good. I don't think even Unity can equal the sheer horror of Metro!

There are probably various reasons for laptop sales superseding desktops, & this was happening before the advent of tablets, but cheaper laptops, much more flexibility/portability & the greater convenience of WiFi routers are definite factors. I can't see Win 8 doing well on these either.

    My sentiments exactly.

Unity has cost Ubuntu some popularity, but I don't think it's so bad really. Mint is nice, yes....

I have a feeling that Metro is going to cause MS more grief than Unity has for Ubuntu!
