Once you have WinPE ISO, the you can have them both. I have them both.

    1. As Boot Menu Recovery, which is available on boot.

    2. In case, if Windows fails to load, as Bootable USB. The command is either F12 or ESC on most computers, to select USB and boot into USB.

    Best regards,

You need the complete extracted directory. I have the complete extrated directory in one of my other partitions beside the System Drive "C" to avoid having to make large image of the System Drive "C".

One doesn't need to Unrar the ISO. One can use the ISO with EasyBCD, but it will have the following disadvantages:

    1. EasyBCD will automatically Unrar the ISO and moves the files to System Drive "C".

    2. If a new version of the imaging program is released, let us say for IFW, I make a new ISO, Unrar it and replace the complete directory without doing anything with EasyBCD.

    Best regards,

FWIW, MR support told me a couple of months ago that the 30 day trial editions have all the features of the full paid version except Pro does not have ReDeploy (restore to different hardware), and in all editions you don't get Standard Windows PE only the WAIK Windows PE download from Microsoft. They said that the reason is that the Standard Windows PE is licensed from Microsoft, so you only get it if you buy.

I see that you run MR, mattbiernat. How long have you used it?
    Do you run Free?
Could you elaborate on your statement that "the Free version makes it really hassle free to make a bootable USB"?

The FREE version can be used as, just like the PAID version:

    1. Bootable USB.

    2. Boot Recovery Menu.

    Best regards,

Long story short. I bought the v4 PRO family license for $100. Within six months, v5 came after a very long, long time and they wanted another $60 for upgrade. The upgrade period was four months and not longer than four months. I bought it six months and was having serious problems. I refused.

Then I used the FREE v5 for more than a year. Eventually, about 2 months ago, they upgraded me to v5 PRO family license for free.

    Best regards,

P.S. This was the first imaging program I bought. Now I own about 10 imaging programs.

    aladdin,

I tried this with the Ghost 15 ISO. I put the ISO in the D: drive, didn't unrar it and no files were moved to the C: drive. I wonder why we get different results?

I also extracted all files from the ISO but found boot.wim is the only file necessary. The others can be deleted. Maybe it is different with other ISOs.

    Dear Brain,

From the menu on the left "Add New Entry" and then there is the horizontal menu. The second option is ISO and the third option is WinPE. Try the second option, which I believe is for both WinPE ISO and Linux ISO too.

Good to know this. I always kept the complete directory. Whenever a new version of IFL comes out. I extract the ISO and delete the old directory and replace it with the new directory. Like this I always have the latest IFL available to me on boot as Boot Recovery. No need to fuss with EasyBCD after that.

    Best regards,
