    The author's page, most software portals' pages just look bloated and annoying to me. And the authors' pages have the latest versions and I feel that they're more secure.

    If an author's official page links to a software portal for the download, then I consider the software portal the author's download page.

    BTW, SSUpdater (Closed) was not a software portal, it was a site that posted when a software was updated (Ex. Google Chrome Version 10 released . . . etc.)
