    Ashampoo Firewall 1.20
    AVG Antivirus
    a squared Anti-Malware

    Or

    Windows Firewall
    Antivir PE
    Prevx1

I know how well Antivir does it's job, and Prevx1 is very good, but AVG Antivirus and a squared aren't that bad, plus there's the added detection of a third party firewall. I know Comodo or SKPF would be a better choice than Ashampoo, but this FW isn't all that bad to use behind a Router Firewall.

AV's are nice to have but my recommendation is also to run a sandbox, like Sandboxie.
I like the fact as pedro, someone, has told that it is beside a sandbox also a virtual one. And you won't have any noticeble pay load running it. And it is a free safeguard program if you don't want to support Ronen developing it.

Re Duke's 2nd option (with Prevx1), it's my understanding that Prevx1 is not completely free - what's the story with that?

    Detection is always free.
    Cleanup only lasts 32 days.

So if a threat is detected by Prevx1 and cleaned, you only have another 32 days to use the product free? That's still somewhat confusing to me. :doubt:

Right now I started using the six month trial of Antivir Personal Premium I found a link to here in Wilders, along with Prevx1 and Ashampoo Firewall. So far my PC is running smooth and my internet seems fast. I'm not afraid to switch back to AVG though, and use it with a squared as I think they are both fine products. I'm just not so sure that a squared offers as much protection as Prevx1 does.
