I have used AIM, but I am currently using YIM. I prefer YIM over AIM though I did not use AIM v7 just v6
imo.im Notifier - an extension, that allows multiple IM chat in Chrome (like GTalk, FB). Since Google announced, that it will release its OS with Chrome as default aplication for everything, I was exploring the possibility to do the same on Win and extensions help. Along with Google Mail Checker Plus, Chrome is pretty much all i really need to run.
I didn't knew people still prefer Win Live Messengers. Here in India people mainly use Gtalk and yahoo messenger to chat
Here in Central America, MOST people use Windows Live Messenger (i can even say 99%) And all my friends, relatives!!
Possible hacking update about imo.im Notifier - someone accessed my gmail account from USA, just when I started to use it, so I uninstalled it and changed my IM passwords.
Does anyone known if Yahoo is planning on adding Facebook chat to it's IM client now that Microsoft and AOL have?
I installed AIM on one of my machines, only thing I liked about it was the facebook connection other then that it was really just like YIM which I am still using .
The new Windows Live Messenger REALLY REALLY RALLY FAILS (Not to say other words that will be censored). IMO it's the worst realease, i was fine with them itroducing useless features that i don't use, but removing ones that everyone loved? What THE !#$% is with them /rant mode off
Here most people used to use WLM but almost everyone has moved to use only Facebook I'm still using it though. Also Xfire, it allows using WLM accounts too, however it's much lighter than WLM, and has many awesome features for gamers (In-Game Overlay..). I don't play much though, but it's still my favourite IM client.
I also switched back to XFire, I used GTalk before, but it caused too many problems and XFire also allows gchat, so why not.
Might want to reconsider that and look at %APPDATA%\.purple\accounts.xml on Windows, LOL... FOSS who cares if it compromises your security. Yeah well this isn't a rumor; In an interview with Kurt Sauer, Chief Security Officer Skype, he said, "We provide a safe communication option. I will not tell you whether we can listen or not. What he heck is that! On the subject of IM how about Encrypted IM since this is a security forum. Does meebo.com count? Anyway, which chat app does support video sessions between Linux and Windows? So far I only think that the flash based Gmail Talk works? (meebo.com does not support Ubuntu)
Hello, Windows Live Messenger is the only IM that I use. I just bought Ad Muncher last week, and it blocks the mini-banner ads at the bottom of the IM window. Regards, Nathan
