A good question and highly relevant for NGOs and other mission-driven organisation. Why don't you write to the AV companies and post their answers here?

Comodo and PCTools can be used. Others are limited strictly to home, personal usage.

..unless you are in Germany, Brazil or Japan and have fewer than 5 PCs so that
'AVG 8.5 Small Business' is an option.

And let's not forget Spyware terminator

id hardly consider ST as an AV option and it only uses ClamAV if u choose which is hardly a competetive AV... its own scanner is barely an AS lol...

I agree about ClamAV and its real-time scanning really slows your PC, but it remains an option.

how do you figure ST is barely a AS? ST is vary strong at blocking with its real time and HIPS try it put everything on advanced then start throwing things at it. it will stop everything you throw at it.

now i agree that ST has sometime a tuff time removing already infected computer but that will be fixed in the future.

My understanding is that MSE will be free for any verified legitimately licensed copy of Windows XP Vista, 7, etc, regardless of the profit or non-profit status of the user. But I don't have this in writing. :(

yes, you are right, i find a german website says this:

    http://www.pcwelt.de/start/sicherhe...s_virenschutz_von_microsoft_fuer_unternehmen/

basicly the article says, you can use MSE in business too, but its not professional and lack central management etc.

HIPS and AS are VERY different things... i was talking about its scanner (even tho its HIPS is way more limited than the other HIPS on the market... free and paid ones...)

well first of all unless theyve updated and finally added the feature, last time they didnt even have .dll injection protection as well as its missing the granularity that a HIPS product needs to be effective, the HIPS is pretty barebone basic that protects against popular attacks im sure so that way it doesnt overwhelm the user i suppose, but its far from competetive with other HIPS products.

Better add FortiClient to the list of AVs free for commercial use.
