Been looking for easy to follow instructions but no luck so far. Got any links on how I can edit out bad nodes or force my connection through various nodes?

If you have Tor installed, just open a terminal and type "man torrc" (aka torrc manual aka manpage) ;) The Tor manual aka manpage ("man tor") is also instructive.

If you don't have Tor installed, there are copies online, e.g. at -http://www.linuxcertif.com/man/5/torrc/. The Tor manual is at -http://www.torproject.us/docs/tor-manual. But they don't seem to have the torrc manual there.

Once you get a sense of what's doable, you can search for further information and tutorials.
