Do you think the comparative tests provide an honest indication on the best AV?

VirusBulletin is not testing for "the best" av. The VB tests (100% Awards) focus only on one aspect: Does a certain av software that is running on a certain operatoing system detect all ITW viruses or not.

So the 100% Award is an important indicator for choosing an av software (maybe even the most important one) but besides that there are many other indicators to be considered as well like zoo-malware detection, trojan detection, unpacking engine, quality of heuristics, usability , speed, resource usage, price and so on and so which depends on the user's needs.

And something in general: VirusBulettin tests are one of the most thrustfull and independent av tests that are regulary published far away from being biased or unclear testing procedures.
