OK longtime rollback user here :) and I can report not any problems for me and they fixed the minor (very minor) issue I had before. As in my previous post https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1160942&postcount=46 they are one in the same product. As users have said you lucked out and got a version of EAZ-FIX that was updated and worked better for your system. Any way as far as Rollback Rx it works great now and I would be glad to purchase the new version if I was not already using it now.

EDIT: They are of course not the same graphics and the like just the basic programming of how they operate. Just throwing that out there.

    Thanks,

    Chris

In case the box is not bootable, corruption, malware, etc...

Don't you have to use PE Builder then use the DriveImage XML V1.21 plugin so that you can boot the box and then restore a backup image and get it running again?

    THANKS

When you want/need to restore the active, OS-holding, in-use partition, you must boot into an alternate environment. This alternate environment may be:
    - A BartPE/WinPE/UBCD4Win disk.
    - Slaving the current, in-use drive to another machine which has DIXML installed.
    Big Drive Snapshot thread

So BartPE with the plugin will restore an image for a no bootable OS, yes?

    THANKS

THANKS, now how good is DriveImage XML, and should I consider something else, even if it's not freeware?

I'm still not making heads or tails of anyone here... :doubt:

Now still trying to figure the BEST option free or not... :doubt:

Unless you try these apps yourself-you will never really know.,but just go round and round in circles.
There have been plenty of suggestions made in this thread.
edit ;I'm not making heads or tails of you, either as you so politely put it

As I said this is for someone else who is a newbie, so it doesn't matter if I use it or not, I just need something that is going to work 100% for the newbie.

I mentioned all of this before, hehe. :)

Also it's for a business computer, no monkey business, this software has to work.

    THANKS

I thought you were the expert so its up to you to make a choice after testing.
Nothing will work 100% for a newbie-it still requires some effort on your part and on her part

When I say 100% I mean a program that is going to make an image and you can restore it and use it, simple as that, it's going to work without any problems, BSOD, bad images, won't backup or restore, bugs, bugs, bugs, etc, etc...

Something simple and reliable, trustworthy with a long standing history of doing the job without issues...

A proven piece of software, considered one of the "Standards" in the industry for Home users or small business...

Certainly there must be someone that stands out as the standard proven winner?

    Ok got it?

    THANKS

It's very good and reliable. I've done dozens of backups, restores and cloning and never had a failure and this is not restricted to my machines.
Well, most of the paid alternatives are speedier, have better interfaces, have more features, can do incremental imaging, provide the PE already made, etc. There's no standard on Windows disk-imaging (AFAIK), altough both Ghost and True Image have the best brand recognition, Terabyte users are very happy and Storagecraft has the most advanced hot-imaging tech.

Most commercial imaging software already have the Preboot Environment (WinPE, BartPE, Linux) already made and/or a few clicks away.
    Yes
Yes. For example, an older version of its VSS driver is used in the most recent Ghost version.

PC Mag review of DriveImage XML
One of the less biased reviews I ever read at PC Mag:
The review highlights the geek appeal of DIXML (scheduling throu batch files, building of recovery CD, etc)

Some imaging programs let you easily make a rescue CD.

With DriveImage XML, you have to make your own recue CD (using BartPE) and then include its plugin in the CD.
Its an imaging program similar to Acronis, Ghost, etc. Website is here.

Hot-imaging: making a disk-image from within Windows thanks to Volume Shadow Copy Service. Storagecraft has the most advanced implementation of this technology. Norton Ghost (Storagecraft's competitor) uses an older version of the Storagecraft's VSS driver.
