I do a full backup (image) of my C:, everything resides their.

The question is do most of you guys use your computer during a full backup or do you let the backup progress without using your computer?

I just watch the magic bar as it moves and feel that if I use my computer for other tasks that I will confuse ATI.

Opinions and comments are much appreciated.

I don't shut anything like AV, network, email, firewall, etc off but I usually don't do anything else. I have on occassion checked some websites.

I usually startup TI and do something else, bathroom break, coffee etc. Other times I just watch.

I don't recall posts saying that TI getting confused because work continued on the PC is a problem.

I almost always do back ups from Recovery CD's That way windows is inert.
I just feel more comfortable that way.

My backups all kick off after I have hit the sack.

I just continue to use the computer. Internet, play games, burn DVDs.

I avoid doing anything that might change a data file until the image is done. Once the validation process starts I go back to normal use.

I also do not like to tempt fate: I use the Rescue CD and go do something else - non computer related.

I agree with all those who back up and then do nothing - but isn't it strange - we trust ATI to restore complete systems - many use Defragmentation programs that work in auto mode - and resizing parititions is not a scary as it once was- and yet I can not convince myself that its ok to carry on working once a back up has started. I work with a number of machines so I tell myself its ok I can work on something else. It rarely takes more than 5 to 10 minutes to back up a system drive and a bit longer for data so again I argue that the time lost is not important. But the truth is I just don't want to take any unnecessary risks.

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for the delayed response.

Please take a look at this previous post describing how Acronis True Image technology works.

My backups are scheduled to run at lunchtime. When I get back the job is done.
