Eek! the only problem I had was not giving it enough memory in a virtual machine as it will refuse to install without 1gb (if I remember right, or it maybe 512mb.)
Can't remember if it came via the msdn subscription or we paid for a trial but its was sitting there until I had time to try it out. As I said vmware virtual machine fine then test machine with no problems, works like a charm.

Might be the last stable and fully customizable O/S microsoft will ever get credit for. :D

    Who knows ;).
Personally I would put my money on Windows 7.

XP isn't Vista's predecessor, Vista is more like a modern Windows 95. Something that's new, some big sandbox (Take in mind: I'm not saying it can't work well, but sometimes it looks more like a "tryout" then a serious attempt to make a decent and stable OS).
But: when this technology is considered "the future", Microsoft can gather experience from what went wrong with Vista and listen to it's users.

    Let's hope so :shifty:.

(PS: I'm not a Vista hater. Really, I'm not ;))

    Edit:
Interesting: If Windows 7 Drops in 2009, Should Users Ride XP SP3 for All It's Got and Skip Vista?

Microsoft reminds me of the popularity of the Coca-Cola Giant, after they tampered with the formula after enjoying so many years of resounding success with as it was, the taste and along with it the sales went way south where it remains today, in spite of Coke Classic. All they do now is peddle several different off-shoots from the Classic with all sorts of weird names.

Anyone see some resemblance forming here ;)

All Afizz Over the New Coke, you mean this one I guess :)?

And you're not the only one who thinks that way. Several Dutch IT-news sites made the same comparison.

I doubt though that we will go back to a "Windows NT classic"- model.

At the moment I am posting from Windows XP. I have some favorite windows applications (for example my email application). I use Solaris, eCS (OS/2), Slackware and of course Windows XP across four machines with a KVM switch.

    Oh, I voted Linux.

Most of the time I run my own stripped down (via nLite) version of XP Pro. When I get another box I'll be running an Ubuntu variant also.
