I will try the IBM version of Aparch Open Office. Suppose to have the side bar which I really liked in Lotus Symphony.
Just out of interest I'm trying Apache Open Office. I find it basically resembles my MS Office 2003 in Word, Excel and Power Point. I found no compatibility issues so far. If I had to buy MS Office I would choose the Apache Open Office.
I alternated work in the Open Office and Word (MS Office 2003). Right now I found that the text I highligted in Word cannot be un-highlighted in Word, only in the Open Office. Then I uninstalled the Open Office to avoid other compatibility issues.
WordPerfect is so much more comprehensible, predictable and just basically usable than Word. Excel, on the other hand, has always been far better than QuattroPro. And I've come to like LibreOffice Calc too.
Agree. The way WordPerfect did things just made perfect sense. Completely forgot about QuattroPro, probably because we used Lotus 123 for our spreadsheets. Another not-in-the-list office suite that I am trying out is Calligra Suite.
Today I remembered an old Office Suite I used to use. Enable OA. It was quite an amazing product back then.
I use MS Office on my old laptop if the need ever arises. On my new computer, I use Kingsoft Office. A fraction of the size, none of the bloat, and loads faster. I only have problems correctly opening special powerpoint presentations for quizzes, otherwise it's dead simple to use. If it comes down to it, I'll transfer the licence from the old computer to the new one, but there's currently no compelling reason to bother. I always wanted to like Open Office but never could.
I use two, yes two WordPerfect x6 Home and Student = My preferred choice (Much cheaper as well - $52 Amazon) Microsoft Office 2007 = Just in case I work with an office file that doesn't look right in WordPerfect.
