what media player will play dvd+r tv shows?

For some reason I cannot find any (free) media player (KMplayer, MPC, GOM, WM, etc) that will play my dvd+r disks. I record a tv show on my Panasonic dvd recorder. When I try to play the dvd+r on different media players on my computer I always just get a blank. Sometimes the media players will not even come up. Is the content of the tv shows somehow protected from being played? Is there a media player (free or paid) that will play dvd+r tv shows?

Two things to try first:

1. Try DVD-R discs instead

2. Make sure your DVD player finalizes the disc before you try playing in the PC

 

what do you mean "finalizes the disk" ?

 

When you finalize a disc you wont be able to add anymore content to it.
