OK. Lets hear it. I've only got a short time and I want to take it with me when I go.

My IBM Thinkpad has served me well for the past couple of years. I would recommend it over the Gateway, HP, and Compaq laptops that preceded it. Going along with Blackspear, I plan on going with Asus when I am ready.

Me too.........most I have owned died in less than a years span. Wont' oay from my pocket for one, as long as the office pays for it.

For half the price of a laptop, I can assemble myself a dual AMD 64 machine with 2GB RAM and the latest video card.

    For durability...IBM Thinkpads.

Also like Asus, Winbook, and Averatecs.

Love Pentium M, and Centrino wireless.

I have gone thru two dell latitude 2000 notebooks in the last 36 months with work (out in the field) I now have a IBM Thinkpad X40 that has been issued . Its very nice and hopefully will hang together a little longer than the dells. I prefer the IBM . The big plus is the 7 hr battery life where as the Dell fried out after 2 - 2.5 hrs . Its 10.55 in wide ( 268 mm ) X 8.31 in ( 211 mm ) depth. height 21mm ( 1.06in.) Lite too ( 2.7lbs ) and 1024 MB of ram

Those are very nice, the little X40's. I sold a healthcare client 3 of them for their fleet of home visiting nurses to use, so far they love them...will be getting more. Awesome little lappies! ;)

As I write this, I'm finishing setting up a new Thinkpad R51 for a construction client, very impressed with it. Pentium M, Centrino, 768 megs, port replicator, nice screen, and the usual durable IBM case.

Just bought a Velocity Micro Notemagic S-90 Ultra. I love it, it's a powerhouse. Not the best for mobile, but I bought it as a 2nd desktop, I can move around at home.

Right now a Fujitsu s-series is all I have used, I like it. People tend to say good things about IBM's at my school so I may buy one. Gotta do it before graduation or else I won't get the discount. :'(

Samsung M40 plus :) had an NEC but much prefer the M40 plus (have a Ergo Port station for it which gives me 4 more individually powered USB2 ports, keeps it cool and angles the screen/keyboard)

I build my own desktops but buy always had good luck with HP's

Just like every other big company , the one I work for uses Dell.

I see Dell does have some good prices now and my choice in the past was getting more bang for the buck. And all of the laptop makers bundled adware
with their pc's at one time or another so I can't hold that against them.

How many use hidden partitions i wonder?

I've always used Toshiba; basically just for realtime backup via LAN, and limited travelling. Now using a Satellite A45.

One evening late, the power supply on my desktop unit gave out. I just moved my chair a bit and continued on with my Laptop and was able to finish some important work.

I still have my original Toshiba Satellite 430CDT - Win95, P120 w/48MB RAM - still runs, never had to reinstall the OS; just can't seem to part with it (although I no longer use it)

I would go with the HP dv1000 series or the V2000 Compaq series. Very nice machines for the money! I like the Sony S notebooks also. Small space, light load and they run fast.
