What is going on? Can someone help?

OK I'm stuck. I was surfing the internet the other night and this page opened that I was unable to locate or close. Since then, I have been receiving so many ads and the pages I do open have these weird links on them underlining certain words. When I open IE, it goes to a blank page, so I will set the homepage on the tool bar to google.com and it goes right back to the blank page. I did the general cleaning instructions about 3428349028 times... but it's still happening. When I clean, the programs always say, virus removed, but it keeps coming back. Help!

Nasreen, since you tried the general cleaning 3428349028 times... , it might be a good idea to go to one of the site's who does HijackThis log cleaning (Wilders does not anymore) . Two of the best are http://www.subratam.org/ & CastleCops . I wish you the best of luck.

As stated at the beginning and end of General Cleaning: If these steps do not resolve your situation, you will need to download and run “Hijack This” found here and post your log at one of the forums found at A-SAP. The two bigger forums for HijackThis log processing, (meaning they process more log threads each day than most others) are: SpywareInfo.com and CastleCops.com. Be sure to read their posting policy in the links at their log review forum sections prior to posting.

The steps mentioned in General Cleaning use software that ought to be part of your security, as an absolute minimum.

Once your system is clean, you may want to take a look here for further discussion on security and how to make your system that much stronger and here for more.

This is what works really well for me, very simple to use and maintain.
