There isn´t a firewall which suits everyone. Do you want a pure packet filter? do you want a rule-based firewall? do you want a firewall which is easy to use? do you want a firewall which pass leaktests?
    -Packet filter: Ghostwall.
-Rule-based firewall: Ghostwall, Jetico and Kerio.
-Easy to use: Comodo, ZA Free, Filseclab.
-Leaktest aware: Jetico, Comodo, Kerio 4, ZA Free.

Also, there are good paid firewalls: Look and Stop, Online Armor FW, Outpost, Jetico v2.
