I think it's just because of the low-reliable server for updating of AVG Free.

 

Hi minacross,

Oftentimes the notice of update from AVG gives a total bytes of the first of several files being downloaded, and so is off by some amount as in your example.

Watch the screen as it downloads and the re-connection for the other files in the download takes place - you'll SWIM.

I would not worry about it as long as the entire update completes successfully and tells you so.
