Almost right after I posted, I wished I had added LUA and Hosts file. Oh, well.

My best protection is my off-line snapshot, it has NO INTERNET.
So no security softwares, no infections, never problems and it works faster than my on-line snapshot.
My off-line and on-line snapshot are like dr. Jykell and mr. Hide. :)

Make it simple, use virtu. stuff, a real NAT router and put your privacy stuff offline, then you are ready to invite all nasties from the Web.

Symantec AntiVirus Corporate, SuperAntiSpyware Pro, Sygate Pro Firewall, SnoopFree, AVG AntiRootKit are the primary ones. Occasionally use OnLine Scans as well as some On Demand Scanners.

I see some great combinations members & staff here impliment for their choice strategy of protection.

I think we can safely expect that Windows security, courtesy these many vendors/developers to only improve and it's a welcome relief already that they IMHO have overtaken the lead once held pretty tight by malware dumpers.

In fact, those malware makers have many more hurdles to climb then ever before and that translates directly into a better computer/internet experience for us all.

Imaging or duplicating a confirmed clean system seems the foremost Logical step as our best ally against even the system itself, suddenly without warning turning on us, as we well know can and does happen on occasion.

I rarely boot into Windows nowadays. I've been using Linux (mostly Ubuntu) for 3 months now and I feel really comfortable with it. I'm behind a router with Firestarter and a rootkit scanner which I run every week or so. I also have Avast in case I do pick up a windows virus (unlikely) and pass it on.

    Happy Christmas all.
